Tidbits from Ethan's Letters

"Brother Minoux (member who owns the cottage they live in) fixed the leak in the pipe.  the hole in the ceiling has some sheet-rock on it, but he still needs to plaster and paint it.
But our beds are in there again.  Until the next leak, anyways."  {Ethan shouldn't have said that because in future there is another leak!}  "Brother Minoux said that whoever built that place cut a lot of corner, so who knows what'll fall apart next."

This is an e-mail that was sent to me (Mom):

Hello Michelle:
My name is Terrie Hurley and your son Elder Stewart is serving in our area and I just wanted you to know that he is doing a great job.  He and his new companion Elder Hoggan came out to the Hurley house for dinner today and we really enjoy their company.  I don't know if he has mentioned the Hurley family to you, but her are a bunch of us and we all get together every Sunday for dinner so it is crazy and loud when everyone is there;  but it is fun.
I have 2 sons serving missions, one in Pennsylvania and one in Ghana and I have really enjoyed getting e-mails from moms in their areas so I thought I would do the same for you, it kind of makes you feel a little more connected to your son.
If there is ever anything we can do to help you with Elder Stewart, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely, Terrie Hurley

This is what Ethan said about the Hurley's:  "We had dinner with the Hurley clan (which involves a good portion of the ward--the bishop and his family and the Young Men's president and his family are also part of that family).  Sis. Hurley said that someone in her oldest son's  mission emailed her and so she asked for your email."

"I played the treble clef notes of "Ye Elders of Israel" in priesthood yesterday.  I hate songs with 3 flats.  Either they're harder than I remember, or I'm out of practice.  But it sounds better than us singing acapella.  Guess who's in the choir?  Yeah, Elder Hoggan and I are gonna be singing on Christmas with the Choir.  They were short on male voices, and they begged us to help out, so I guess it doesn't matter that I sing like a dying kitten with constipation."

"I never realized how dry the air I breathe is until I went to Ventura on Tuesday for transfer meeting.  The air on the coast is awesome.   Hopefully I'll get to work on the coast sometime on my mission.  It's a pretty good chance, since most of our mission is coastline."

Mores excerpt from Ethan's letter to Dad & Brienna:
"It's finally cooled down here.  We have our space heater going constantly when we are home.  It rained yesterday, and there's still some snow up in the mountains. The actual valley is still completely devoid of snow, though.  The lake has gone down quite a bit too.  You can see some treetops sticking out now.  (The lake is man-made   the town of Lake Isabella used to be down where the lake is now, before the dam was built)."

"Here's a quote for you:  'I'm veering right!  And you know this before I veered, because I SIGNALED!'--Elder Hoggan, while changing lanes."
