December 2011 e-mail updates

"Things are fantastic.  Our investigator who's quitting smoking slipped up again this week.  but he went longer this time before he slipped up and he smoked fewer cigarettes...
We had a most interesting dinner on Wednesday.  The people (who fed us dinner) are part Native-American.  The food was good...after that it was interesting.  They had a homemade drum.  way cool.  We had to be 'cleansed'  which involved having burning sage waved in our general area.  I held my breath because I wasn't  sure if it was against the Word of Wisdom or not.  Then we drummed our songs, and you know how like in movies and most of the time when the Indians yell the lyrics, it sounds really awesome?  yeah, I intend no rudeness but they just sounded like people in loud pain.  But the drum was way awesome.  So that's my weird story for the week."

"Our investigator who's quitting smoking had a serious Word of Wisdom giant leap backwards off of a cliff kind of thing last week.  So we're trying a new way.  Quitting cold turkey wasn't working for him, so he's using the journal we bought for him to keep track of when he smokes so he can see how he does as far as how long he goes without smoking and stuff, and he's cutting back every day to wean himself.  I've developed a passionate hatred for cigarettes.  Seems to be the hardest thing for everyone to give up or be able to quit."

(about being fed so well by the members) "...my bog bones have gotten bigger--so it's a good ting my pants have a stretchy waistband.  I'm working on it a bit, though.  Now that we have a bigger fridge, I've bought fruit and stuff so I can snack healthier."
